Datuk M. Nasir dad, Mohamed Sam, passed away at the of 96 at his home in Singapore today (Jan 28) at 7.30am.
The sad news was shared by Nasir’s wife Datin Marlia Musa on her Instagram.
Berita Harian reported that Nasir and his family hadn’t been able to visit the dad in Singapore due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Nasir was born in Singapore. He started his music career there before becoming a Malaysian citizen in 1989. His parents remained in Singapore.
Marlia was reported saying: “We tried to get permission to enter Singapore and visit the family, but the authority wouldn’t allow it due to the Covid-19 situation.”
She added that the last time Nasir saw his dad in person was about a year ago before the start of the pandemic.
“Since then, we’ve been communicating with him via phone and video calls only, ” she said.
