M. Nasir, Siti bag major awards in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Sat. — M. Nasir and Siti Nurhaliza are at it again.

The popular singers made the country proud when they bagged the major awards at the Anugerah Planet Muzik 2002 here tonight.

M. Nasir won three awards — the most popular male artiste, best male artiste and best album for Phoenix Bangkit.

Siti Nurhaliza won two awards, namely best female artiste and most popular female artiste.

The prestigious awards presentation ceremony, in its second year, was attended by musicians and singers from the island republic, Malaysia and Indonesia.

It was organised by MediaCorp Radio Singapore which runs Ria and Warna, Singapore's prominent Malay radio stations.

The audience was entertained by Malaysia's Ziana Zain, husbandand-wife team of Nurul and Ajai, Dayang Nurfaizah and Siti Nurhaliza, Singapore's Hetty Sarlene, Ferhad and Jai, and Indonesia's greats Harvey Malaihollo, Kris Dayanti and husband Anang, rock group Padi and Shanty.

The winners: o Best Female Artiste — Siti Nurhaliza; o Best Male Artiste — M. Nasir; o Best Male Newcomer — Rio Febrian; o Best Female Newcomer — Shanty; o Best Group/Duo — Padi; o Best Album — Phoenix Bangkit; o Best Local Artiste — Hetty Sarlene; o Best Local Album — Kaleiboscopicuriosity; o Best Local Song — Bersamamu (Asiyah Sinnan); and, o Most Popular Song — Seandainya Masih Ada Cinta (Dayang Nurfaizah)
