Award-winning songwriter Rosli Khamis, better known as Loloq, is in stable condition following an operation to remove a blood clot in his brain yesterday.
Rosli, 50, underwent surgery at the Damansara Specialist Hospital in Petaling Jaya yesterday. He was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at 6am on Sunday and was reported to be in a coma.

A frequent collaborator with singer, songwriter and composer M Nasir, Rosli’s famous songs include Andalusia (performed by M Nasir), Dewi (Hattan), Aladin (Spider), Di Kala Hujan (Slam), Percayakan Siti (Exists), Awan Yang Terpilu (Ning Baizura), Bertakhta Di Hati (Farahdhiya), Nafas Cinta (Misha Omar), Aduh Saliha (Mawi) and Angan Dan Sedar (Mawi).

The Singapore-born songwriter also acted in films such as Embun, Sara, Senario Lang Buana, Man Laksa and Zombi Kampung Pisang. He also wrote the script for the films Orang Minyak and the coming Aduh Saliha.

Rosli has also been a judge and critic in singing contests and reality talent shows such as Akademi Fantasia.
One of Rosli’s close friends, rock singer Hattan, said the songwriter’s condition was gradually improving and he could now breathe without the aid of a respirator.

Nasir said he was happy that Rosli had shown signs of improvement and prayed that his fellow Singapore-born would be out of danger soon.

Rosli and Nasir won Top Lyricist and Composer respectively at the Malaysian Authors’ Copyright Protection (MACP) Awards last year. Rosli has won the award for five consecutive years.
