taken from Bernama 22 March 2007

SHAH ALAM, March 22 (Bernama) -- The Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry will work with two other ministries to establish a "village" specially for production of films, Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said Wednesday.

He said the film village was an effort by the government to help develop the local film industry with the use of an attractive central location to produce films or dramas.

"We will cooperate with the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Energy, Water and Communications Ministry to find an attractive film production location for our national film industry," he said at the launch of production of the musical fantasy film "Aduh Saliha", here.

Dr Rais said the cost of the proposed film village had yet to be determined but added that it would give a new lease of life to the local film industry.

He said his ministry would discuss the details with the two other ministries.

"Aduh Saliha" will be produced by The Cameracrew Productions Sdn Bhd and is to be directed by M. Nasir.

Nasir told a news conference that the actors included Mawi, Felix, Erra Fazira, Nasir Bilal Khan and Que Haidar.

He said the RM1.6-million film would be shot in Keningau, Kundasang and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.-- BERNAMA
